Plantation Corporation to set up latex factory

Pathanamthitta, Aug 13 (UNI) Plantation Corporation of Kerala Chairman T J Anjalose today said it will set up a modern latex factory at Kodumon estate at a cost of Rs 415 lakh.

Talking to reporters here, he said the foundation stone for the factory would be laid by Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Retnakaran on August 19.

Mr Anjalose said the factory would have the capacity to refine 60 metric tonne of latex per day. The construction of the factory would be completed within a year. The venture was part of the Corporation's vision 2012.

It was planned to do replanting of rubber tree on 1,102 hectares of land.

The nursery to produce high-yielding variety of rubber saplings had started functioning.

The corporation would soon form Cashew Nut Development Corporation, he added.
