NFDC to organise script development workshop in Goa
Mumbai, Aug 13 (UNI) In keeping with the mandate of promoting development of Cinemas in India, the National Film Development Corporation Ltd (NFDC), in collaboration with the Directorate of Film Festivals, will conduct a script development workshop in Goa from November 18-24.
The Indian Script Development Workshop (ISDW) 2007, to be held on the eve of the Intrnational Film Festival of India (IFFI) Goa, is designed for Indian script writers, who have finalized their scripts for a theatrical feature film. The aim of the ISDW is to develop seven commercially viable scripts aimed for the international market, a NFDC spokesperson said here today.
ISDW will provide a platform for Indian scriptwriters to work out and finalize already developed screenplays through active consultation and interaction with a selected team of seven renowned professionals from the global film industry, including India.
Seven well developed feature film scripts will be selected by NFDC, and during the workshop, the scriptwriters will discuss their scripts in depth with the team of advisors both collectively and on a one-to-one basis. The workshop will be conducted in English only and the English versions of the script will be discussed.
These seven scripts will be analyzed in detail during the workshop and the analysis will focus on different aspects of the project such as structure, characters, plot development, dialogue etc.
After the workshop, the selected scriptwriters will be required to submit a new version of their scripts (translated in English and based on the discussions and advice emanating from the workshop) and submit the same to NFDC, which will be a co-owner of these scripts and have first right of refusal on these scripts for production purposes.
To participate in the workshop the participants need to submit entry forms along with the scripts in classic script format- Log line, one page synopsis along with scriptwriter's CV in English. A letter of intent and a DVD of previous work, if any must also jbe submitted.
The application must be sent by e-mail in word document' to NFDC at [email protected] and submissions must be sent to NFDC before August 25, 2007. The final selection for the ISDW 07 Workshop will be announced by the end of October 2007.
