Munnar restoration: HC directs Society to suggest names

Kochi, Aug 13 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the petitioner, Munnar Restoration Society, to suggest names for constituting an expert committee to assess the damage and destruction caused by encroachers to the rivers and streams at Munnar in Idukki district.

Chief Justice H L Dattu and Mr Justice K T Sankaran gave this direction while hearing the writ petition filed by Munnar Restoration Society.

The petitioner sought a direction to the state government to implement the provisions of Municipal Act, Panchayati Raj Act and other provisions of law to revive and maintain the rivers and streams of Munnar.
