Man arrested for attempting self-immolation

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) Lucknow Police today arrested a man for attempting suicide by immolation in front of the Vidhan Sabha precincts here today.

Official sources said here this evening, Babban Singh alias Kamlesh Singh of Gokulpur in Bahraich district was arrested from the spot for trying to immolate himself.

Later, Babban confessed that he attempted suicide by immolation to protest extortion of taxi drivers by a criminal, Sandip Kalia, in Bahraich.

A case was registered against Babban and he was sent to jail.

Investigations were on.
