Journalist Union condoles death of Shobhna
Chandigarh, Aug 13 (UNI) Members of Chandigarh-Punjab Union of Journalists (CPUJ) today condoled the untimely death of Zee News senior correspondent Shobhna Singh.
A number of journalists attended the condolence meeting held at CPUJ office here.
Shobhna was killed in an accident in the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh while she was on her way to cover an assignment on Saturday last.
CPUJ President Vinod Kohli, while speaking on this occasion said that Shobhna Singh was a brave journalist who always put duty above everything else. He said that tragic demise of Shobhna had once again highlighted the kind of challenges and risks journalists had to face while discharging their duties.
He demanded that family of the deceased be duly compensated not only by her employers but also by the Himachal Pradesh government.
The Union also condoled the sad demise of Dainik Tribune correspondent Sunil Rathor, who died due to kidney failure at Chamba.
