HCC wins Rs 415 cr water-tunnel project
Mumbai, Aug 13 (UNI) HCC, one of the leading construction and infrastructure development companies, has got approval from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the Rs 415 crore water-tunnel project between Maroshi and Ruparel College.
The tunnel will replace the old upper Vaitarna and Vaitarna mains in this section and improve the water supply to Vakola, Mahim, Dadar and Malabar Hills, the company said in a statement.
According to the company, the tunnel will be laid underground by digging a shaft 90 feet deep and then excavating the tunnel horizontally using the tunnel boring technique. It will connect Maroshi in western suburbs to Ruparel College and Dr E Moses road tunnel that supplies water to Malabar Hills. It will be completed in 2012 and will supply 1100 million litres daily.
