HCC bags Rs 415 cr project from BMC
New Delhi, Aug 13: Infrastructure major Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd has secured order worth Rs 415 crore from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for water tunnel construction.
Under the contract, the company will construct tunnel from Maroshi to Ruparel College, in 56 months and supply 1,100 million litres daily, a company statement said.
This is the second major order bagged by HCC from BMC for the construction of water tunnel. Last month the company bagged work order for laying 15.7 km long water main pipeline from Jamboli to Chinchwali. On completion, this pipeline will bring additional 378.54 million litre of water per day (mld), the statement added.
HCC has built the water supply system for Mumbai. The Viatarna Dam built in the early 1950's started an era in construction of concrete dams. Water treatment plant at Bhandup has been constructed by HCC. It is also responsible for constructing two supply tunnels delivering 455 mld drinking water to the city.
