Gujarat BJP accuses Congress of impeding progress in state
Anand, Gujarat, Aug 13 (UNI) The Gujarat BJP has accused the Congress of obstructing all constructive and developmental works in the state.
Whenever the state government takes any decision for the welfare of the people, the Congress tries to create impediments, Gujarat BJP president Purushottam Rupala alleged while addressing party workers here last evening.
Citing the example of the Sardar Sarovar Project, Mr Rupala said when the Supreme Court allowed raising the height of the Narmada dam, then Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz had said he would not allow the height to be raised.
Mr Rupala alleged that during the Congress regimes in the state, the law and order situation used to be bad. He alleged that during the tenure of Mr Amarsinh Chaudhary as the Chief Minister, there were instances when prisoners from the Porbander jail were allowed to go out during the nights and they would return in the mornings.
On the other hand, he claimed that Gandhi's Gujarat has come to be recognised as Modi's Gujarat because of the several progressive steps taken by the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, Mr Rupala said the partry is geared for the forthcoming assembly elections and six lakh BJP workers would be deployed to man the booths. Necessary training was being provided to the BJP workers in this regard, he said.
