Vidisha(MP), Aug 13 (UNI) A Dalit farmer was burnt alive by four people following a dispute over land at Dhurhara village near here early this morning, police said.

Police said Khilan Singh Ahirwar, living in a shanty erected on a piece of grazing land allotted to him under a government scheme five years ago, was doused with kerosene and set ablaze by four people of the Yadav community. The dispute was over the ownership of the land, which the assailants claimed belonged to them.

City Superintendent of Police Surendra Jain said Khilan Singh was taken to the district hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family members.

Three accused- Rajendra Singh, Mahendra Singh and Parasram Yadav- had been arrested.

A group of Congress workers led by Subhash Jouhar staged brief demonstration in front of the police station to protest the incident.
