CM assures fast track courts to try 1993 riot cases

Mumbai, Aug 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today assured that all cases related to the 1993 communal riots in Mumbai will be transferred to fast track courts soon.

The Chief Minister gave this assurance to a delegation which met him over the issue. The delegation comprised film director Mahesh Bhatt, former minister Arif Naseem Khan and Teesta Setalwad.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation that a directive to set up fast track courts would be issued soon.

Mr Khan told UNI that around 250 cases were still pending in various courts in Mumbai.
