Charges framed in Majid Memon firing case
Mumbai, Aug 13 (UNI) Special MCOCA court judge Abhay Thipsay today framed charges against five gangsters associated with Ravi Poojari gang for their alleged attempt to eliminate noted criminal lawyer Majid Memon at Bandra in July 2005.
Judge Thipsay framed charges against Muqtar Sheikh, Alwin, Vikky Sharma, Michael and Samir. They were booked under section 3 (i)(ii), 3(2) of MCOCA (Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act), 307, 120(b) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 3, 25 of Arms act.
Defence advocate S Kunjuraman informed that the court has framed charges against the accused and posted the matter for August 27.
On July 4, 2005, the accused had allegedly fired two rounds at Mr Memon's vehicle. After the incident, Poojari had reportedly called up some private television channels and claimed that the firing was carried out at his behest.
