BSNL to erect 1,000 more towers in MP

Bhopal, Aug 13 (UNI) The BSNL plans to erect 1,000 more towers this fiscal in Madhya Pradesh adding to the existing 1,500 towers.

''During the period, 2,000 optical fibre cables will be laid. In view of the increasing demand for broadband, the BSNL raised the subscriber target from 38,000 to 1.25 lakh,'' Madhya Pradesh Telecom Circle General Manager R K P Hinduja told journalists here today.

Responding to a question on broadband customers not obtaining the desired speed, he assured that the situation would improve by next month.

''The BSNL, working in tandem with the state government, will establish information network centres that will function as info hubs connecting blocks to district headquarters and the latter to divisional headquarters that will in turn be linked to the state capital. The BSNL is purchasing instruments to improve services,'' Mr Hinduja added.
