BJP, Shetkari Sanghatana activists show black flags to Thorat

Nagpur, Aug 13 (UNI) Six activists of BJP and Shetkari Sanghatana, demanding complete waiver of outstanding loans of farmers, were detained after they showed black flags to Maharashtra Minister for Agriculture Balasaheb Thorat at Buldhana in Vidarbha region, police said today.

According to police, as soon as Mr Thorat rose to address a public meeting, organised by the Congress party in Buldhana last evening, the activists displayed the black flags, demanding complete waiver of outstanding loans of farmers in Vidarbha.

The six activists, identified as BJP Tehsil unit chief Datta Patil and his party colleagues Pandit Sapkal and Arun Khare, and Ravikant Tupkar, Shrawan Gavai and Lakhan Gadekar of the Shetkari Sanghatana, were immediately detained, police said, adding they were later released.

The activists also got into a skirmish with Congress activists at the meeting venue over the issue, police added.
