Bhopal Police nab 4 criminals who looted bank employees

Bhopal, Aug 13 (UNI) City police have arrested four criminals who robbed two UCO Bank employees of Rs 12 lakh at gunpoint in broad daylight in the bustling New Market area on August seven while the employees were en route in an autorickshaw to deposit the money in the main branch.

A sum of Rs 5.35 lakh was recovered and three cars and five cellphones used for the crime the seized. Those absconding have criminal cases registered against them in Delhi, Gurgaon, Alwar, Bharatpur, Palwal, Mewat and other places.

''The accused connived with one Praveen Malviya who is associated with bank finance,'' Superintendent of Police Anat Kumar Singh told journalists tonight.

The crime was the brainchild of Malviya who was residing in Piplani area and had been arrested in 2003 for looting a truck loaded with TV sets in Maharashtra.

On August seven, five criminals stopped the auto, looted the bag and sped off. They divided the money into shares of Rs 1.5 lakh. Two criminals, who were in another car, abandoned the money and fled on observing vehicles being searched in Parwalia Police Station limits but the driver Sunil was apprehended. Interogation led to the arrest of Malviya, Akhtar and Rajesh Rajput.

Akhtar hails from Haryana's Palwal district while Rajput and Sunil hail from neighbouring Sehore district.
