Bandh called by Congress party affects life in North Tripura
Agartala, Aug 13 (UNI): Normal life was affected in North and Dhalai districts of Tripura today following a 12-hour bandh called by the Congress party to protest alleged failure of the ruling Left Front government to deliver goods.
The movement of traffic on National Highway 44 was also badly affected, disturbing the functioning of business in the region.
Bandh supporters led by former chief Birajit Sinha, a dissident faction of the Congress party, said they were protesting the alleged failure of the ruling Left Front government to fulfil promises.
All business establishments, government offices and academic institutions were closed in response to the bandh. Private vehicles were also off the roads.
All Agartala bound passenger buses and goods carriages were stranded at Churaibari check gate at the Tripura-Assam border, police officials here informed.
