AIMIM demands police to arrest Taslima Nasreen

Hyderabad, Aug 13 (UNI) All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi today demanded that the police arrest exiled Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen and immediately seize her passport.

Speaking to newspersons here, Mr Owaisi said, as a case was registered against her under Section 153 (A) for promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion and allegeed that the police were not taking action against Ms Nasreen.

A case was also filed against Mr Owaisi under section 506 (criminal intimidation) for issuing a death threat to the Bangladeshi writer, he had reportedly said that, ''she would be beheaded if she visits Hyderabad again.'' Stating that he would either surrender before the court or the police as a case was registered against him too, the AIMIM leader said the party would continue its fight against Ms Nasreen.

The AIMIM legislators and activists had attacked the writer at the Press Club here, who was participating in a book release function on August nine.
