12 candidates remain in fray for Jamshedpur bypoll
Jamshedpur, Aug 13 (UNI) With the withdrawal of name by Jharkhand Party (Enos)candidate K K Murmu today, altogether 12 candidate remained in the fray for the August 29 Jamshedpur Lok Sabha bypoll.
Sixteen candidates filed nominations for the bypoll, but the candidature of three Independents were rejected during scrutiny.
Prominent among those contesting are NDA-backed BJP candidate Dinesh Sarangi, UPA-supported Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Suman Mahto, Bahujan Samaj Party's Salkhan Murmu and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Democratic) candidate Bikash Mukherjee.
Besides, Shiv Sena candidate B P Singh, jailed Samajwadi Party candidate Aftab Ahmed Siddiqi and Aamara Bangalee's Sushil Mahto also remained in the fray.
Campaigning for the election will end on August 27 while counting will be held on August 31.
