Tribal woman and her daughter killed for land

Shillong, Aug 12 (UNI) A tribal woman and her daughter were shot dead by a few assailants over an alleged land dispute on Friday night, Meghalaya police here today said.

Police said the incident occurred on August 10 night here when six gunmen opened fired on the woman and her 16-year-old daughter, killing then on the spot.

A 13-year-old boy, who was present at the victims house during the time of attack, sustained bullet injuries.

Police said the deceased had some dispute with the miscreants over a plot of land under Shilliang Myntang Elaka at Borato village in Jaintia Hills district.

The sister of the deceased had already indentified the miscreants, police said adding that a murder case had been lodged against the six and a manhunt is on to nab them.
