Three persons die in house collapse in HP due to heavy rain

Mandi, Aug 12 (UNI) Three members of a family were buried alive when a house collapsed due to heavy rain in Gadari village of Gohar sub-division in this district of Himachal Pradesh early this morning.

Those killed have been identified as Ram Singh (43),Banti Devi(38) and Pawan Kumar (4).

Mr Gopal Chand, SDM, who visited the site disbursed immediately financial relief of Rs 25000 to the aggrieved family and an additional relife of Rs 2 lakh would be given soon to the family.

Heavy rains which is continuing since last night, disrupted the normal life have and its surrounding areas . Road traffic, Power supply,Telecommunications and Water supply were partially disrupted in different parts of the region.

Ambedkar Colony in Sundernagar has been inundated by flooded water of Suketi Khud and swollen rivulets damaging household goods.

Most affected were the migrant labourers residing along the Suketi Khud whose Jhugis had been washed away, but no loss of life has been reported.

National Highway-21 has been blocked due to heavy landslide at Harbagh, 33 km from Mandi towards Chandigarh. Hundreds of vehicles coming from and going to Delhi have been stranded on both sides of the road.

Beas River and its tributaries were in spate.
