SC will hear tomorrow Atiq's plea demanding CBI inquiry

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear tomorrow a petition filed by Samajwadi party MP Atiq Ahmed, main accused in the murder of BSP MLA Rajiv Pal, seeking a CBI inquiry into the registration of alleged false cases against him by the Mayawati Government in Uttar Pradesh.

In his petition the MP, who has already been declared an absconder in the murder case, has alleged that Chief Minister Mayawati was personally responsible for the registration of over half-a-dozen fresh criminal cases against him after the Party took over the reins of power in Uttar Pradesh in May this year.

According to the petitioner, carrying a reward of Rs 2500, all the cases registered against him were bogus and politically motivated.

A bench, comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran will hear on August 13 the arguments on the point of admission of the petition in which personal allegation has been made against the State Chief Minister Mayawati, the first respondent in the petition.
