Rain relief to Kolkata, heavy spells likely for next 24 hours

Kolkata, Aug 12 (UNI) Kolkata today heaved a sigh of relief from the sweltering heat as rain lashed the city bringing the mercury down to a comfortable level.

Met office recorded maximum temperature of 31.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 27.7 degrees Celsius.

Maximum humidity was pegged at 96 per cent and the minimum was 83 per cent.

Rainfall stood at 18.6mm.

Alipore weather department predicted occasional rainfall with heavy spells at times during the next 24 hours in the city.
