Justice Kohli releases Dogra Sabha directory

Chandigarh, Aug 12 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court Judge Justice Permod Kohli today urged the Dogra community and other who have shifted from J&K to the tri-city of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula to act as bridge between the state and the rest of the country.

He was speaking after releasing the maiden directory of members compiled by the J&K Dogra Sabha, Chandigarh.

Referring to the exemplary role played by the people of the state while serving the country in various fields, Justice Kohli, who hails from the border district of Rajouri in the J&K, said those who have shifted outside the state should continue serving the country in a manner for others to emulate.

He said after being transferred to Chandigarh from J&K High Court, he thought he would miss his roots. "But, I am happy to note that people from our state are excelling here too. I hope this trend will continue", he said.

Punjab Advocate General Hardev Singh Mattewal, who was the guest of honour, said his family had links with the state by way of relations and friends. He said the Punjab government headed by Parkash Singh Badal would extend all assistance to the people of Jammu who are residing in the region.

Earlier, the president, J&K Dogra Sabha, while welcoming the guests, stated that the Sabha was an association of residents of Jammu province who had shifted to Chandigarh.

Among others who spoke included Prof Shashi Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Laws, PU, Dr A K Gupta, Medical Superintendent, PGI, Brig Prem Kumar and Jatinder Sharma.
