JKLF chief Malik, other leaders have encounter with death
Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik and other leaders had a close encounter with death when the brakes of a Safar-e-Azadi ( journey to freedom) truck in which they were travelling failed.
A spokesman of the JKLF said brakes of Safar-e-Azadi truck failed in which Malik and other senior leaders were travelling on way to Chowkibal from border area of Tangdhar in north Kashmir.
However, the truck driver's quick presence of mind and courage saved the lives of JKLF leaders, including Malik, he said.
Mr Malik and other JKLF leaders later reached Chowkibal safely in another vehicle.
The front has started a Safar-E-Azadi from Kokernag in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on May 20, 2007 to generate support to JKLF's slogan '' Kashmiri first for Kashmir resolution.'' It had so far covered Kulgam, Anantnag, Kokernag, Pulwama, Shopian and Tral in south Kashmir, Charar-e-Sharief and about a dozen areas in central Kashmir district of Badgam. Now the JKLF Safar-e-Azadi has reached north Kashmir, including border areas.
