Home min condemns attack on migrant workers in Assam

New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) Home Minister Shivraj Patil today condemned the attack on migrant workers in Assam and assured all possible help to the state government to check such incidents.

The Home minister conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families. He said militants will not succeed in their designs of disturbing the harmony among different communities in the state.

Five Hindi-speaking labourers were killed by Karbi militants near Rongmom under Baithalangso police station in Assam's Karbi Anglong district last night.

The incident came barely 24 hours after 12 other Hindi-speaking labourers were massacred by the same militant groups.

The Centre is in touch with the state government and taking stock of the terrorist attacks in which several innocent people have been killed, said the minister.

Meanwhile, a six-member team of Members of Parliament (MPs) belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (U) will visit violence-hit state to take stock of the latest situation.
