Holy mace of lord shiva taken to Shankeracharya temple for puja

Srinagar, Aug 12 (UNI) '' Charri Mubarak'', the holy mace of Lord Shiva, was today taken to Shankaracharya temple for Puja on the occasion of '' Amavas Haryali'' under tight security arrangements.

Mahant Deepender Giri, custodian of the holy mace, accompanied by a number of sadhus, took Charri Mubarak from Deshnami Akhara temple to Shankaracharya temple this morning.

After performing puja, the holy mace was brought back to Akhara temple.

It is an age old tradition to take the holy mace to different temples for performing puja before finally taking it to holy Amarnath cave on August 28, (the Rakshabandan day), a spokesman of the Mahant Giri said.

He said the holy mace will be taken to Sharkadevi temple on Hariparbat near the shrine of Mehboob-ul-Aalam Hazrat Mukhdoom sahib.
