AC explosion inside McDonald in Kolkata kills one,3 injured

Kolkata, Aug 12 (UNI) One person was killed and three were critically injured following an explosion inside a McDonald's outlet in Park Street at Central Kolkata today.

Police Commissioner Prasun Mukherjee said the explosion occured following a tremendous pressure built up in the AC system that found its way out by ripping apart the exhaust point and shutter of the food joint.

A person, who was walking past the outlet, was injured when the flanked shutter hit him and later succumbed to his injuries, Mr Mukherjee said.

''Initially it was thought that there was a gas cylinder explosion but we have found all the cylinders were intact. There was something wrong in the Air Condition system,''Mr Mukherjee informed.

The Commissioner also said the three injured might have sustained burnt injuries from the hot air coming out of the AC. They have been rushed to SSKM hospital here.

A fleet of fire tenders had also reached the spot, official sources said.

Park Street had been rendered inaccesible to the general people for further investigation by the forensic team.
