5 arrested for brandishing arms at BHU hospital

Varanasi, Aug 12 (UNI) Five persons have been arrested for brandishing licensed weapons during their visit to the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital to meet a criminal undergoing treatment there.

Dinesh Narayn Singh, Ajay Dubey, Avdhesh Yadav and Jamshed Khan were arrested late last night for publicly displaying licensed weapons at the BHU hospital where they had gone to meet indisposed Mohd Shahid, who was arrested in connection with the murder of a police constable of the nieghbouring Chandauli district, police said here today.

The driver of the car bearing no number plate was also arrested from the spot and the vehicle seized, police added.

Mohd Shahid presently undergoing treatment at the BHU hospital has been lodged at Ghazipur district jail in connection with the murder of a constable of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Chandauli Police Akhilesh Singh.
