2 more killed in Assam, toll goes to 28
Guwahati, Aug 12 (UNI) Violence continued unabated in Karbi Anglong district of Assam before Independence Day as two more Hindi speaking people were killed by Karbi militants tonight, taking the toll to 28.
Police said the latest incidents came from Parkhowa under Howraghat police station.
The militants opened indiscriminate fire, killing two people at around 2020 hrs. Further details are awaited, police added.
There was also a rumour of another attack at Daithar under Bokajan police station.
But police informed that it was part of diversionary tactics by the militants after scanning the entire area.
With the killings, the death toll has gone to 28 in the past 72 hours as the security forces.
