Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury today threatened that the second phase of the land struggle in Andhra Pradesh would be intensified with the participation of national leaders if the Congress Government refused to concede their demands.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Yechury, who was here in connection with the State Executive meet, dismissed as ''diversionary and delay tactics,'' the AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh's proposal of a Land Commission at the national level.

Taking great exception to Mr Singh's claim that the Left parties lacked clarity on the issue, Mr Yechury said, ''We have given in detail the terms of reference and other aspects relating to the Land Commission,'' he added.

Land being a state subject, it was for the Congress Government in the state to concede their charter of demands, including immediate constitution of a Land Commission to deal with all complaints connected with land distribution.

In each state, different arrangement was there to deal with the subject, he said, adding in West Bengal, there was a separate Ministry to deal with land reforms, unlike in Andhra Pradesh.
