Warm, humid conditions continue in Delhi, mercury drops to 36 Deg C

New Delhi, Aug 11 (UNI) Hot and humid conditions today continued to send Delhiites "in a sweat" for the second consecutive day even though the mercury slightly dropped to 36 degree celsius.

Despite the slight drop in maximum temperature, the mercury remained two degrees above normal. The minimum was also recorded at 28.4 degrees C, two Degrees above normal.

The heat and humidity left people of the city sweltering under the Sun even though the sunlight was interspersed with long periods of cloudy weather.

Some respite from hot and humid weather could, however, be in offing from tomorrow with the weathermen forecasting scattered rainfall activity in Delhi and other plains of Northwest India during the next three days due to the Northwards movement of the Monsoon trough.

''The western end of the monsoon trough has shifted Northwards and now lies close to foothills of the Himalayas. This scenario is likely to continue for the next three days and cause scattered rainfall activity over Northwest India,''the Met office said.

The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with possibility of rain and thundershowers in a few areas.

After last weekend's heavy rain, rains have eluded the Capital.

This, coupled with the clearing up of the skies, has led to a return to hot and humid conditions in Delhi.
