Indo-Pak I-day: Musical concert at Wagah
New Delhi, Aug 11: Celebrated performers from both sides of the border will participate in a musical concert to celebrate 60 years of Indian and Pakistani Independence on the nights of August 14 and 15 at the Attari-Wagah border.
This is an effort of an NGO 'Routes to Roots', in order to unite people across the border.
Bollywood stars Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, Indian composer AR Rehman, popular Pakistani singers Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali and Shafqat Ali, and cricketer Wasim Akram would be there to feature in the event.
"This musical extravaganza is the result of concerted efforts by people who want to harmonise relations between two parts of the same heart, said Rakesh Gupta, 'Routes to Roots' secretary and organiser of the event.
There will be an outpouring of emotion, as the people from both sides would come together to celebrate their Independence Days, which also mark the days of their division, said Gupta.
The musical evening is a chance to celebrate our differences and similarities," he added.
Gupta hoped that new chapters of friendship are written on the border and we commit ourselves to consolidate it further, the Daily Times reported.
