Training on full swing for World Wrestling Championship

Patiala, Aug 11 (UNI) Freestyle women wrestlers will represent India in seven weight categories at the forthcoming World Wrestling Championship to be held in Aizerbaijan from September 17 to 23.

Twelve women wrestlers are undergoing strenuous training in the ongoing national coaching camp which began here at the NIS on August one. Former national wrestling coach S R Sanga and SAI wrestling coach Ramni Chanu are supervising the camp.

Indian women wrestlers had performed creditably in the last Commonwealth Wrestling Championship, held in London and Canada, in June this year, winning one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

With J S Mandher back as President of Wrestling Federation of India, and Kartar Singh as its Secretary-General, Indian wrestling is once again on the right track after a prolonged faction fight and court case.
