TN Govt's move to start Cable TV operation gets Cabinet nod
Chennai, Aug 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Cabinet today gave its nod for the Government starting Cable TV operation and decided to immediately commence the preliminary work after launching an independent State-owned firm.
The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, decided to provide Cable TV service by functioning as a Multi System Operator (MSO) in the city, where there was Conditional Access System (CAS), and as Cable TV operator in other parts of the State, an official release here said.
The Cabinet's nod followed the decision taken at a high-level meeting on August nine, chaired by Mr Karunanidhi, to start Cable TV operation through a State-owned public sector undertaking and approach the Centre for necessary licenses.
