Three PSUs allotted coal block to set up thermal power plants

Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 (UNI) The Centre has granted coal blocks to three state owned corporations, to set up thermal power plants.

State Energy Minister Suryanarayan Patra told newspersons today that the Orissa Mining Corporation(OMC),the Orissa Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) and the Orissa Hydro Power corporations (OHPC) had been allotted lease of coal mines to generate power.

Mr Patra said while the OHPC was allotted lease for 200 million tons in Baitarani west, the OPGC had been given lease for 532 million tons.

Out of total 532 million tons, 300 million tonnes had been provided in Manoharpur coal block and the rest allotted in deep side Manoharpur.

A 350 million tonnes of coal block was given to OMC in Nuagaon Telishai block.

In addition to it, the Union government had also provided 1000 tons of coal mine lease to four corporations including North East Electricity Board and Assam Electricity Board in Mandakini-B block, Mr Patra said.
