SC commission member hails Haryana schemes

Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) National Scheduled Castes Commission Member Mrityunjay Nayak today said the other states of the country should emulate the example of Haryana in the successful implementation of schemes aimed at raising the socio-economic status of persons belonging to scheduled castes in the state.

This was stated by Mr Nayak while interacting with the mediapersons here today. He was on a visit to review the work of the State Government for the welfare of persons belonging to Scheduled Castes.

Mr Nayak said the state overnment had done a remarkable job for their welfare and had effectively implemented several schemes to provide financial assistance to the Scheduled Caste families on the occasion of the marriage of their girls and provide assistance to them for the construction of their houses.

He said a national level conference would be organised in Delhi soon for the effective implementation of welfare and reservation schemes of Scheduled Castes persons. The President, the Prime Minister, the representatives of judiciary, several government and non-government organisations would participate in the conference.
