Patna, Aug 11 (UNI) The Bihar Pradesh Congress today demanded that JD(U) President Sharad Yadav be questioned by the CBI, following party MP Ajeet Singh's death in a road accident near Siwan on August 1.
Congress leader in the state legislative council Mahachandra Prasad Singh told newsmen here today that Mr Yadav in a recent statement had said that Mr Singh had been facing threats allegedly from those involved in misappropriating crores of rupees in NAFED.
Such a statement had deepened the mystery regarding the unnatural death,he said.
'' In a recent statement to media in New Delhi, Mr Yadav admitted that Mr Singh had twice brought to his notice about the threats on his life from scamsters,'' the Congress leader pointed out and claimed that no step had been taken to protect the JD(U) MP's life.
''Did Mr Yadav inform Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about the threats on life of the JD(U) MP? If yes, what steps were taken by the Chief minister,'' Mr Singh inquired.
Charging the Nitish Kumar government with negligance in arranging immediate medical aid for Mr Singh who was seriously injured after being hit by a speeding bus on the National highway 28, Mr Singh said. Wife of the JD (U) MP also requested Mr Kumar for a CBI probe into the death of her husband as she suspected conspiracy behind his death, he added.
