Megh CM urges civil servants to exercise discipline
Shillong, Aug 11 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has urged all civil servants to exercise discipline and restore moral health, efficiency and effectiveness in the state.
''Civil services can help us build a strong and prosperous society. Therefore, we must ensure a responsive, accountable, transparent and people-friendly administration,'' Mr Lapang told the deputy commissioners, superintendents of police and sub-divisional officers (civil) at a meeting here yesterday.
After reviewing the overall development of the state, Mr Lapang stressed the importance of creating a system that would meet the expectations of the people.
''Good administration requires better policies and sound deliverance mechanism for far-reaching results,'' he said.
The chief minister asked all the deputy commissioners and sub-divisional officers to ensure that they discharged their duties with responsibility and sincerity so that people appreciated their services.
He also urged them to give the highest priority to education and health sectors.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma, Chief Secretary Ranjan Chatterjee, Director General of Police B K Dey Sawian and other senior government officials.
