Haryana to conduct Livestock Census
Chandigarh, Aug 11 (UNI) Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department will conduct a Livestock Census in the state from September 15 to October 15.
Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha said yesterday the census was being conducted as per the guidelines of the Centre as a part of national programme.
Mr Chatha said the department had already started gearing up for conducting the fresh livestock census in a systematic manner so that the actual population of the livestock could be ascertained.
Requisite schedule, instruction manual and other census material had already been got printed and it would be made available to all the districts.
He said the livestock census being conducted in the entire state would help the government in formulating programmes and policies for promoting livestock production and its further improvement.
Mr Chatha said the livestock census, being technical in nature, the Central government had entrusted this task to the department as it had sucessfully carried out the last census of livestock in 2003.
With a view to conduct it successfully, training would be imparted to the staff and senior officers of the department who in turn would train the required staff for the census work.
The Minister directed the department that the entire work of census would be done with a missionary zeal so that exact figure could be ascertained and comprehensive policies and programmes for the uplift of livestock owners could be planned.
