Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said six exclusive police stations would be set up in six select districts to probe cases of atrocities against SCs and STs in the first phase, out of 12 atrocity-prone districts identified by the Punnayya Commission.

Chairing the second State-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee Meeting on atrocities against SCs and STs here, Dr Reddy said the Government would also identify long-pending cases in courts and take special measures, to establish Special Courts or Special Public Prosecutors for speedy trial of the cases. The officials should intensify their weekly visits in atrocity-prone areas, he added.

Publicity and Awareness Programmes would be launched in a big way, ensuring the year '2007-08' as an atrocity-free year, the Chief Minister said, adding the relief and rehabilitation measures were being taken up seriously, an official release said.
