CPI to intensify land struggle after I-Day
Tirupati, Aug 11 (UNI) The CPI will intensify its struggle for the distribution of government land among the landless (Bhoopooratam) after Independence Day celebrations, by pitching party flags on government lands across the state, party Andhra Pradesh unit Secretary K Narayana said today.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Narayana, who came here to participate in the district general body meeting, said a decision to this effect would be taken at state committee meeting to be held in Hyderabad on August 12 and 13.
''The state government will have to pay a heavy price if it tried to suppress the land struggle,'' he cautioned.
He said the party was opposing the constitution of a Land Commission at national level. ''It should be set up at state level, instead, "he added.'' UNI KNR JJ RR BST2250
