CM and DCM cancel aerial survey of UK and DK districts

Bangalore, Aug 11 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today called off their scheduled aerial survey of Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada Districts due to bad weather.

Official sources told UNI here that the CM and DCM after touring the affected parts of Shimoga, Davanagere and Haveri districts landed in Haveri as the chopper in which they were travelling could not proceed further due to cloudy weather accompanied by rains.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also held a top level meeting with Shimoga district officials and discussed various problems faced by the people in affected parts of the district.

Mr Kumaraswamy toured the affected districts after holding a meeting with top officials in the city yesterday in which he had urged the centre to provide Rs 500 crore as immediate relief to provide relief to those affected people. The state had suffered more than Rs 3000 crore worth agriculture crop damage following heavy rains, the sources added.
