TN: Bullet wearing woman in Chennai airport

Chennai, Aug 11: A woman passenger of a Sharjah-bound Air Arabia flight today created a flutter at the Anna international airport terminal here when it was found that she was wearing a live bullet as pendant.

The passenger, identified as Noor Prez Khalil, hailing from Vandavasi in Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu, was, however allowed to fly after the police seized the bullet. The flight left here after a delay of 15 minutes.

The Airport Police said that after tightening the security in view of the Independence day, all passengers and their baggages were subjected to thorough check. When Khalil was checked, the metal detector sounded an alarm, but the security personnel could not find any suspicious material in her possession. After repeated checks, they found to their surprise that her pendant was indeed a live bullet covered with a thread.

During interrogation, Khalil told the police that she was wearing the pendant for the last three years after a local priest in Sharjah blessed it and gave it to her for her heart problem.

The 5.56 mm bullet was handed over to the Airport Police.

The Q branch police dealing with terrorists allowed her to fly after they were satisfied that she had no connection whatsoever with any terrorist outfit.
