BJP demands immediate dismissal of Azad government

Jammu, Aug 11 (UNI) Terming the Congress-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir ''barbarous'', the state Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded the immediate dismissal of the government.

Talking to media at the party state headquarters, BJP state president Ashok Khajuria termed Ghulam Nabi Azad as extremely cruel and anti-democratic.

''It is the proper time for Governor Lt Gen (Retd.) S K Sinha to intervene and bring down the coalition government invoking Section- 92 of the Jammu and Kashmir constitution,'' he said.

A government, which unleashes a reign of terror on unarmed and peaceful victims of terrorism and prevents them from expressing their resentment over the failure of state government to implement the decision of the Supreme Court, has no right to function even for a day, the state BJP chief further said.

Mr Khajuria said the brutalities of police perpetrated not once but many times during the past one week on the Talwara migrants, including women and children. This reminds one of the old British days when the police would crush those demanding redressal of the grievances for the people of the country.

''The Chief Minister says that he is working for 'Khushhaal' Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. If this is the 'Khushhaali', then down with the Congress Gunda Raj,'' he condemned.

The BJP believes that this is the only course left to free the people of the state from the clutches of the Azad government and get the grievances of the migrants redressed.

The BJP state Chief demanded a judicial inquiry into all the incidents of police cruelties on Talwara migrants so that the guilty are identified and given an exemplary punishment for violating the human rights and preventing the migrants from expressing their resentment through constitutional means.
