Attempt to take SIM card into Srinagar central jail foiled by CRPF
Srinagar, Aug 11 (UNI) Alert CRPF guards today foiled an attempt to take a SIM card into central jail for a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant.
A CRPF spokesman said one Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Kulgam, had come to meet his cousin Naushad Ahmad Ganai in the central jail.
However, during the frisking of Iqbal, alert CRPF guard found an Airtel SIM card number 9906836296 in a cigarette packet.
He confessed that the SIM was for Naushad, a HM militant detained in the jail for the past two years.
This is for the first time security forces recovered a SIM card which was being taken to jail.
However, a number of SIM cards were recovered from the slain and arrested militants by the security forces and police in the Kashmir valley.
The spokesman said Iqbal has been handed over to police for further questioning.
