AIMIM's attitude not in country's interest: Yechury

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (UNI) Vehemently condemning the attack on exiled Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen by All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen legislators and activists, CPI leader Sitaram Yechury today said that the AIMIM's attitude was not in the interest of the country, society and communal harmony.

''We are not concerned about her views on various issues. We may be in complete disagreement with her. But it is not the appropriate way to express dissent,'' he told a press conference here.

Asked about allegations that the Government was dithering in taking stern action against the AIMIM legislators, Mr Yechury said the Andhra Pradesh Government should take firm action against those responsible for the attack.

On the case registered against Ms Nasreen by the police on a complaint from the AIMIM for hurting their religious sentiments, he said ''the law should take its own course.'' UNI
