AIE to introduce 4 addl flights between Sharjah-Mangalore
Mangalore, Aug 11 (UNI) Air India Express will introduce four more flights between Sharjah and Mangalore from October 25, Airport Authority of India (AAI) Director M R Vasudeva said today.
Talking to reporters at the Bajpe airport, he said with the introduction of additional service, the number of international flights per week between Mangalore and Gulf would increase to 14.
In all, there would be movement of 28 international flights every week at Bajpe airport from October 25 from the present 20 flights, he said adding the work on the new terminal building at the airport would be completed in the next 18 months.
He said the Bajpe airport, which had earned a profit of Rs 83 lakh during 2006-07, was targeting to earn a higher profit of Rs six crore during 2007-08.
Replying to a question, he said though there was a great demand to start Cargo flight service, the airport had no immediate plans to begin the service due to technical reason.
He said AAI had asked the Railway Ministry to set up a railway station near the new terminal building for the benefit of air passengers.
