AP: 3.01 lac cusecs water discharged into sea

Vijayawada, Aug 10 (UNI) Due to heavy rains in upper catchment areas and heavy inflow of water from Nagarjuna Sagar Dam to Prakasam barrage, the irrigation authorities tonight discharged about 3.01 lakh cusecs of water into sea from the barrage.

Irrigation department officials said the inflow from Nagarjuna Sagar was 4.80 lakh cusecs.

The department would issue the first flood warning if the discharge crossed 3.97 lakh cusecs.

The water level at the barrage was maintained at 12 ft, the officials added.

Meanwhile, the Krishna district administration had evacuated the people living adjacent to Krishna river bund.
