3 UP policemen among 7 booked for financial irregularity

Lucknow, Aug 11 (UNI) Seven people, including three Uttar Pradesh police personnel were today charged with committing gross financial irregularities in the payment of hired tents during the traditional 'Kartik Purnima' and 'Parikrama' Mela in Faizabad city.

According to administrative sources, in 1991, gross financial irregularity was unearthed in the payment of hired tents during the traditional fair.

The accused were the then SP Akhilesh Malhotra, area officer Ram Prakash Tondon, inspector Raghuvir Singh Bhadauria, police department clerks Jagdish Mishra, B L Saxena and two others.

Owing to the irregularity, the state govenment had incurred a huge revenue loss. Later, a probe was ordered into the case.

After recommendation of the investigating officer, the accused were booked at Kotwali police station under section 409, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120 (b) of IPC and 13 (d) of Anti corruption Act.
