Tata Power signs contract with Toshiba Corp for UMPP

Mumbai, Aug 10 (UNI) Tata Power today announced the singing of an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for supply of five 800 MW steam turbine generators with Toshiba Corporation for the first 4000 MW Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in India to be located at Mundra in Gujarat.

In a statement here, Tata Power MD Prasad R Menan said, ''This agreement is a significant step towards our drawing on the technical expertise of a strong international player like Toshiba.'' Meanwhile, Toshiba's Power Systems Company Vice President (Thermal and Hydro Power Systems and Services Divison) Mr Atsuhiba said, '' We are happy to partner with Tata Power for first 4000 MW Mundra UMPP, and support their pioneering effort of bringing 800 MW sized unit based on super critical technology to the country.

Toshiba intends to bring the benefits of its long-standing international expertise to the Ultra Mega Project in India.'' UNI
