Tata Power inks deal with Toshiba Corp
New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) Tata Power Company Ltd has signed an EPC contract for supply of five 800 - MW Steam Turbine generators with Japan's Toshiba Corporation for the first 4000 MW - Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in the country to be located at Mundra. Toshiba Corporation's scope of work includes the design, manufacture, test and supply of equipment related to the Steam Turbine Generator packages for the five units of 800 MW each, company said in a statement.
They will also be associated with supervision of commissioning of the turbines.
''This agreement is a significant step towards our drawing on the technical expertise of a strong international player like Toshiba. This partnership will provide an excellent technical solution for Mundra UMPP which is also cost competitive,'' company's Managing Director Prasad R Menon said.
The company recently signed a contract for complete Boiler Island scope on EPC basis with Korean Doosan Heavy Industries&Construction Co Ltd.
Tata Power has also acquired Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed for Mundra UMPP.
